Naomi Uyama discovered lindy hop in her hometown of Washington DC during the late nineties. Over the past decade she has taught workshops all around the world and performed for dance and music legends alike. She has won the champion title at such prestigious competitions as the American Lindy Hop Championships, the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, and the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships. She founded the internationally renowned dance team The Silver Shadows, and was an original organizer of “The Jam Cellar”- one of DC’s best dance venues. When she’s not traveling in the name of triple steps Naomi currently resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Since his start in 1998 Peter Strom has taught at dance camps from Australia to South Korea to Herrang, Sweden. In addition to teaching he brings with him his skills as a sought after DJ and experienced Master of Ceremonies. He is currently a member of the renowned team the Silver Shadows and the founder of Uptown Swing in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The Competitions

Swan City Swing Showdown!

It’s time to throw down your love of lindy! Let your social dancing superpowers shine. The focus is on connection with your partner, musicality and… fierce fun! In the preliminary competition couples will dance in an all-skate (couples all dancing at the same time) to music of varying tempos. Two couples will proceed to the showdown and dance in a spotlight (each couple dancing one at a time) to some swinging tunes that might get a bit faster with each round 😉 ! Each couple will battle it out and play off each-other for the heavy-weight belt of Swan City Swing stardom!

You must register with a partner online ($10 per couple). The winning couple will take the cash pool from the Showdown registrations AND social passes to Hullabaloo 2017!

Hack and Jill

Dancing is a magical conversation. It’s just you, your partner, the music… and your adoring audience! Here’s your chance to draw inspiration from your partner and really make them shine. The focus will be on connection, creativity, and pure jazzy joy. Dancers will be randomly matched with a partner and take to the floor in a single all-skate.

You must register online as an individual ($5 per dancer).
